"Prioritize family while remaining ambitious"

For "Possible Missions,” delivering quality products and services is top priority. Paula Mendoza, President and CEO of Possible Missions, credits the work ethic ingrained in her as a child, the unique relationships her company shares with some of the best suppliers in their fields and a family approach, as keys to her success.

“As an entrepreneur and small business owner for two decades, over time, my ambition was challenged by life circumstances that would show me what matters most and how to balance business demands with personal ones., Raising children, caring for aging parents and continuing my education are all responsibilities that my customers could grasp, but that does not change the needs of the business to be responsive 24/7. That makes the role each member of my team plays vital to our success. They have to be visionary, nimble, and flexible and our company culture reflects that. At Possible Missions, we care for our employees and our customers like they are family. Birthdays, graduations, and babies on board are celebrated. We have a profit-sharing program so team members can feel a sense of ownership in what we are building together.

We recently purchased a building that has a full-sized kitchen. Not only does the staff take turns cooking, when we have customers come for meetings, we cook for them, as well! This creates a sense of family, all inclusive, and working together.

When you're small, it's challenging to do everything well and still maintain focus. I strive for excellence and am willing to share tips on my “lessons learned” and time management with a large number of driven, community and business leaders seeking to grow.

It’s important to:

• Set goals and stick to them

• Love what you do, and it will make it easier

• Be true to your word and to yourself, say what you mean and mean what you say, but also be willing to hear other’s point of view

• Be committed to your business while understanding that family always comes first

Possible Missions and our sister company, Pos Mis serve a wide range of clients, each with its own specific needs. As a small business, it can be difficult to meet all our customers’ technology needs. It is critical to have strategic partners who bring their technical expertise to projects and share our company values. Together, we can find a solution that works best for the customer.

We are moving towards bulk sales, warehousing for clients, and "just-in-time delivery.” We must maintain ties with our reseller partners and work with reputable global suppliers who we trust and whose products we sell. Competitors exist but the value we bring to our customers is high-quality service that is unmatched. Trust, dependability, and the ability to follow through with our promises are the most important factors in doing business. That's where Possible Missions shines! Customers know they can rely on us to respond, act, and find solutions when they have a need.

During the height of the pandemic, we were able to demonstrate that value to support our customers’ unexpected need. An area hospital was wasting time putting together the safety shields that arrived from a manufacturer unassembled. Within a week, we were producing and delivering assembled shields, repackaged, at a rate of 5,000 weekly, exceeding their expectations. As result, our customer could focus on patient care during an unprecedented global health crisis.

Later, when the client needed COVID-19 test kits assembled from items delivered separately, with just a week’s notice, we began assembling test kits, repacking, and delivering bi-weekly with the customer's help. To date, we have provided 175,000 test kits and are now working on a new 25K order, due to the recent uptick in cases and new variants.

Despite the abundance of technology, our clients want to know that they can call someone and get an answer. Corporate America is so big it can't turn on a dime. Fortunately, we can. There is demand now for on-site storage and with the building we purchased, we have warehouse space to accommodate our clients. It was something we had hoped to do in the long-term and the pandemic presented an opportunity to make it happen.

I am who I am today because of the people around me. I have been tremendously blessed to have mentors and sponsors who have steered me in the right direction. It’s my time to be that voice, that mentor, that sponsor for those who work at Possible Missions and live in the community I serve. We have come a long way with an initial investment of $100. My mom shaped me into the person I am today, and I also have a husband who has always been supportive of my odd work schedule and outrageous ideas. I’m so excited to see how my journey can inspire others with the passion, ambition and an idea that creates a path to their own success.
