"We utilize "fit for purpose" tools to create "fit for purpose" teams"

Kim Baker, President & CEO, Vivid Performance Group, says when I founded Vivid Performance Group, I knew we wouldn't end up where we started in terms of the "what and how" we served our clients. I suspect that creating a business teaches entrepreneurs the most about themselves, and I am no exception. I am an admitted optimistic, pragmatic, “improveaholic” which has fueled my personal growth and development as a human and leader of Vivid Performance Group, says Kim.

We live our vision of helping people, teams, and leaders work better together. We believe through awareness and intent we can all evolve to be what Neale Donald Walsch describes as the “the next greatest version of the highest vision we’ve ever had for ourselves”. We utilize scientifically based assessments, training, coaching and facilitation methods to help our clients achieve their goals and aspirations. Our success is dependent on the success of our clients, their testimonials, and referrals. It’s tremendously rewarding and heartwarming when a client tells me that the tools and solutions we provide are the most successful they've ever used and that we’ve made a real difference in their life.

As a female leader, I am hired as an executive coach by many high-profile female business leaders and up-and-coming women in their organizations. Dispelling myths and "tipping the sacred cow" around confidence and women is one my methods. I utilize two types of assessments which measure confidence. One is a personality assessment, and the other is a 360-degree tool that includes a measurement of others' perceptions of an individual's confidence-based behaviours, says Kim. In this 360-degree instrument, which assesses six proven confidence-behaviours, women score equal to men in five, and significantly higher than men on one. Furthermore, male superiors overall rate women equal to men in the six confidence behaviours. This is NOT the common message with respect to women and confidence.

Something that I find interesting in my work is that there are men who have a lot of confidence who also have a degree of self-doubt. Whether it is a male or female who has self-doubts, we can help them work through those using assessments, coaching, and even sometimes training. I’ve learned through our work, that men and women are more alike than we’re lead to believe.

One piece of advice to women, pay attention to who "brought you to the dance." In my experience, women become stranded, more than men, under leaders who didn’t hire/choose them for the role they occupy. When you notice a leader "hiring for a friend" rather than "hiring for skill," leave and move on. If you have the potential and desire to grow, find your “next best fit” and achieve in that role adds Kim.

During Covid our clients and prospects were hungry for “all things survival” related to how to help employees and teams work optimally in the remote environment. We were asked to assist in helping people work efficiently from home while maintaining positive interpersonal and team dynamics. We helped teams focus on creating working agreements in the interpersonal skills areas of communication, conflict, and collaborative problem-solving, looking at how they could adapt the way they complete work and interact with one another to the remote environment. We also put a lot of emphasis on raising awareness of the self-management skills of goal setting, performance monitoring, planning, and coordination.

For our cutting-edge approach, in 2021, I made a strategic decision that our mission would evolve to a more team-oriented and trust-focused solutions approach, by where the team, its work, and its environment are designed in a way that promotes both healthy teamwork and high performing taskwork. Our methodology is unique and proven, and we provide "fit for purpose" solutions. Each client and their needs are distinct and may require different solutions. We have a toolbox full of tried-and-true, practical, straight-forward, and streamlined tools that we use to make sure the team and its members are "fit for their purpose”.

"On the Horizon" is a book that chronicles our Sandbox Stories and how we've helped individuals, teams, and leaders work better together. We are also focused on expanding our speaking engagements and looking for novel ways to collaborate with complimentary professional services providers all in effort to help employees, teams and leaders work better together.
