"Transforming Lives"

Jordana Latozas, President & Founder of Recovery Mobile Clinic, is a leader who cares for everyone on her team. She has been hailed as a mentor offering her team members advice on fulfilling their entrepreneurial aspirations. This not only makes for great employees that work hard, look for unique angles, and think outside the box but also results in a great team dynamic that supports each other.

While Recovery Mobile Clinic is armed with a stellar staff, Jordana ensures that each one has the right professional growth. She oversees that the right person is in the right field of work, ensuring that the staff is motivated and constitutes a happy workplace. The pioneering leader learned this from her experience, where she had to work with some employers and "leaders" that were more of a hindrance to growth than a promoter, so she learned from those employers what not to do. “Open communication, clear expectations, and defined Job descriptions are essential to forming happy employees. Acknowledgment of work well done is imperative to have well-rounded employees who feel appreciated,” she elucidates. “Providing employees, the ability to find the part of the job that empowers them and let them take ownership of it to help them enjoy their job and enhance satisfaction.”

With this mindset, Jordana has been positively impacting not only those surrounding her but also those who encounter her institute. The Recovery Mobile clinic's mission is to provide treatment options for drug and alcohol addiction that have been proven effective in decreasing relapse rates while increasing treatment availability to a largely under-served population. “We are unique in the model of care we offer, as a mobile model. We act as a bridge to complete care in many instances,” explains Jordana. “As a result, we are not "competing" with other practices that support the same population but learning how we can both use what we have, and do not have, to cover the patient completely and encourage a true recovery from a multidisciplinary approach.” She often consults with and offers tips and encouragement for other practices to implement mobile outreaches to help contribute to the needed care. “My dream is to work myself out of a Job. A world with no need for addiction treatment is a world I would like to create,” she says.

In an instance, a patient was admitted to the salvation army Harbor light for Alcohol addiction. However, he also was suffering from dangerous uncontrolled hypertension, which placed him at risk for a stroke. The Recovery Mobile clinic provided the medical care that allowed him to control his blood pressure safely, remain in the treatment program to complete it, receive his vivitrol injection to maintain his sobriety from alcohol, and continue to follow up with his monthly for vivitrol maintenance. Another example is a patient struggling with opiate and methamphetamine addiction. She came to the clinic lost and desperate, and the Recovery Mobile clinic started the vivitrol injection to help her with her cravings. It was successful, and she brought her cousin and her brother. “With the bravery of one family member, we were able to extend a lifesaving treatment to her extended family as well!”

One of the most significant achievements of the Recovery Mobile clinic is partnering with large entities such as The Salvation Army and the Michigan Department of Corrections. “We are excited to make inroads with large community partners with a well-known presence,” says Jordana. “In light of the Covid pandemic, we were also able to partner with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to provide covid vaccines to the community and extend hope and healing while expanding the Recovery Mobile Clinic Brand and exposure.” The Recovery Mobile clinic is working on a partnership with the VA. This will again expand the ability to reach more patients in need and expand the brand of the Recovery Mobile Clinic.

The Recovery Mobile Clinic is a nonprofit organization that accepts donations to fund the Patient Recovery Fund. They use the money in the fund to cover care costs for patients without insurance. 100% of donations from the Patient recovery fund directly support patient care. The future of the Recovery Mobile Clinic includes expanding more territories within Michigan and neighboring states. “We are also training staff on additional services such as Hep C treatment and HIV management and prevention. Staff is being trained in harm reduction in the form of Narcan education for the community,” adds Jordana.
