Eget Liber, Inc. designs and develops environmentally conscious products to help meet the demand for eco-friendly solutions. "Our mission is to help preserve the lake ecosystem by mitigating the harmful blue-green algae," says Jason Dean, CEO of Eget Liber, Inc.

Jason attributes the company's success to its problem-solving methodology. Jason has overcome several challenges while developing Eget Liber's technology. Jason cares about the environment and feels that problems may be solved without harmful chemicals. Jason is a sharp thinker who is always striving to improve his skills. Being a former STEM educator, he is also a superb communicator who shares his passion for engineering with his staff. Jason gives back by sharing his unique expertise and insights with budding engineers.

Jason seeks out new ideas through listening rather than speaking. Jason adds that a productive team is a happy team. Jason believes that having a clear vision and direction for his team sets him apart. A leader with these qualities creates a productive and engaging workplace.

Also, for many aspiring entrepreneurs, Jason believes sharing stories of triumph over hardship can be instructive. He believes that even failure may be instructive. According to Jason, experience gives you the courage to continue when everyone else tells you to stop.

When it comes to criticism, according to him, it is a means of improvement. Taking criticism wisely typically comes with age and maturity. People frequently judge the intent of another's remark based on past experiences. When seen negatively, criticism can be tough to absorb. "Seize the opportunity to discover how others evaluate your work," says Jason.

Speaking of implementations, Jason says, ongoing research at Eget Liber has resulted in an improved mitigation mechanism. The new system will be able to mitigate more quickly than the old one, explains Jason. We expect Eget Liber to explode in the next two years due to its new mitigation scheme. Extreme weather and fertilizer runoff will likely keep people looking for ways to stop harmful algae growth for many years to come.

Jason views competition as natural progress. Companies usually look at their own products and services to see what sets them apart. The desire to limit competition sometimes drives a company to improve its own products.

In October of 2021, Eget Liber was called to a biological research station from a local university on Oneida Lake in upstate New York to combat a harmful algal bloom. Water samples were collected and analyzed for both toxins and species of cyanobacteria present. It was confirmed that it was a harmful algal bloom utilizing pleather of sensors attached to Eget Liber’s platform. The bloom at the surface of the water made the water quality quite bad. We began treating the water at around 11 AM ET and by 1 PM ET the bloom had dissipated. The water’s quality went from a dense fluorescent green color at the water’s surface to clear within two hours of treating the water. Pictures from the mitigation on Oneida Lake are included below, says Jason.

This summer, Eget Liber will work with a Department of Defense branch and a city in upstate New York with a population of over 500,000 to show the effectiveness of its technology on dangerous algal blooms in Lake Erie. Eget Liber will show that it can get rid of harmful algal blooms in municipal water sources in a safe way, mentions Jason.

Eget Liber competed in the 2020 GENIUS NY competition in Syracuse. GENIUS NY is the world's largest uncrewed systems accelerator. Eget Liber placed 5th out of almost 400 firms in the 2020 competition. Jason Dean entered the GENIUS NY competition to inspire his students. He shared his former inventions with his science pupils on "Fun Fridays" and taught them his unique way of problem-solving through PBL. Jason would lead his students through the engineering challenges he faced, from robotic lawnmowers to ballistic armor. Students appreciated hearing how math and science were used to solve real-world problems, says Jason.

Description

Eget Liber designs and develops environmentally conscious products to help meet the demand for eco-friendly solutions. We are developing an autonomous, semi-submersible, remotely operated underwater vehicle that uses ultraviolet light to kill cyanobacterium, also known as blue-green algae, in freshwater lakes. Our customers consist of freshwater lake associations, which are often comprised of lakefront property owners, and who represent those individuals who are most impacted by the harmful effects of harmful algal blooms (HABs).
